Russian Pret-a-porte Fashion Week

Moscow Fashion Week traditionally presents local and international designers. Since establishment of the Fashion Week, over 400 designers and brands have been demonstrated on the runway. Fashion week festivities have been diversified to include live talks, panels, performances and a marketplace made of pop-up shops for attendees.

Moscow Fashion Week has a big focus on young design talent and conscious consumption. The majority of Moscow’s fashion design talent is between the ages of 25-35, making the presence of emerging creative talent in Russia a major part of the cultural scenery. With an average of 50,000 viewers for one show throughout the country, viewership across the entire week surpasses a million, which is no small feat for an otherwise underrepresented fashion community.

Collections of Russian designers Denis Simachev and Alena Akhmadullina were presented at one of the first editions of Moscow Fashion Week. BNW designed logo for Akhmadullina that had simbolized elegance, excellence and quality.

Alena Akhmadullina grew up in St. Petersburg and launched her namesake label a year after graduating from the St. Petersburg Academy of Technology and Design. Showing regularly at Moscow Fashion Week, the brand debuted its ready-to-wear collection in Paris for the first time in 2005. In 2006, Alena won Glamour Russia’s ‘Designer of the Year’ award, after which she opened her first flagship boutique in Moscow. The brand also received The Elle Russia Style Award in 2008.

In 2001 Denis Simachev opened his company and launched his first fashion show at Fashion Week Pret-a-porter. Famous Russian fashion designer Denis Simachev graduated from the College of Art and Graphic Design in Moscow; the famous Pivot Point Academy in Spain and the prestigious Moscow State Textile Academy. He is winner of Russian and international competitions in the field of fashion. The designer prefers to demonstrate his collections abroad, explaining that the fashion industry in Russia is far from perfect. Every year, clothing brand Denis Simachev can be observed at the Fashion Week in Milan.
